A little Input Please - Nitrocellulose Ink

Good afternoon all. I am new to the boards and I am still new to pressure washing. I was contacted by a company to remove an ink spill from their parking lot. This company makes packaging for many well known household brand name products and snacks. In their process, they use nitrocellulose inks. Its this ink that dripped onto the concrete from one of the big rig trailers parked there. I have requested the MSDS from the plant manager so that I can look up specifics regarding proper cleanup and disposal. Just wanted to know if any others out there have run into this and what was an effective chemical mix to lighten or completely remove this stain.

Based on some googling, I keep seeing sodium hypochlorite solutions may be effective but I would still like some experienced input if possible.

Thanks

No way, I think SH should not be used with/for it. Reading about it for about 5 minutes, among other scary things about it as is, found this on its MSDS.

“CONDITIONS TO AVOID : Avoid heat, sparks, flame and contact with strong oxidizing agents.
Prevent vapor accumulation.”

Sodium Hypochlorite (SH) is a strong oxidizer so NO NO.

I would walk away

When you get ink on your hands how do you get it off after it’s dried? Agitation and soap…hmm.

Maybe EBC and a brush? Charge out the wazoo and do a test spot before hand.

No EBC then try zep purple.

Personally I wouldn’t touch this but we are all in different situations

You should direct to to a hazmat clean up company that specializes in this. Have them clean it up and maybe you can come behind them to remove the stain.
