A little help is this efflorescence caused by trapped moisture

Customer has some marble that was sealed a few months back. Is this issue because of the sealer or the stone.

Efflo is caused by salts, lime etc. in the stone that is leaching out of the stone, not by the sealer. If the stone is sealed with a film forming sealer (verses a breathable penetrating sealer) the efflo will build up under the sealer. The only cure is to strip the sealer because it’s just going to continue to get worse. The efflo will still come up but you will then be able to remove it. If it was done in a breathable sealer you will at least be able to remove the efflo with the right chems.

Thanks, that is what I thought just needed someone to back me up.

No problem. You have a good resource for stone/pavers in the Tampa area. Mike Kilgore with 3i Supply. I use him for stone related tech support and his prices are good enough that I buy from him and it’s still saves $50.00+ a bucket over buying here in TX. They have a sealer stripping product called Uni-Stripper that has a good reputation, I have not used it myself. Tell him Mark Abelson from TX sent you. That shouldn’t get you thrown out…

No kidding I didn’t know you were Mark. I see you on the Facebook quite a bit.

There are much better vendors out there . And more reputable. Ones not wrapped up in several lawsuits from local companies that got screwed by the so-called expert advice. Also your best knowledge about certain sealer and stripper products will generally come from the manufacturers.

That company is about 15 minutes away from me . There local rep is not a good one.

I’m sorry to hear that, my experience from here has been good and much better than my local reps. Always good to have the local knowledge perspective, it’s most likely the most accurate.
