7 ways to guarantee customer loyalty

Housecall Pro usually has some pretty good articles they email out. I’m not sure if these are accessible online or only to HCP users, but here’s the link.

Thanks! I have enjoyed reading through all of the marketing info you always throw out to everyone. I’m sure a big reason a lot of pressure washer guys and gals fail is they don’t even consider marketing except for maybe a craigslist and facebook ad and think they’re going to be working 12 hour days. One of the most important things I’ve learned in the last week I’ve been on here is that anyone can throw a pressure washer on a trailer and start a business but the only ones that have long-term success are the ones who spend most of their time on sales and marketing. It’s not the only part of the equation but it’s a huge part.

Look what I got in the mail on Thursday. Thanks for the recommendations.

Anytime! That’s a great, classic, primer on sales. Zig Ziglar has a ton. I really like Ultimate Sales Machine by Chet Holmes too.

I’m not in the pressure washing and gutter cleaning business. I’m in the marketing, sales, customer service, and customer retention business and just happen to be pretty dang good at getting stuff clean.

That’s a perfect way to look at it. I’ve learned that most everyone can learn how to clean the exterior of a house or a concrete driveway but not everyone can create a brand or, more importantly, even realize they should. I didn’t really look at it like that a week ago. I’m sure you can get by not doing so but you’ll have to work harder, longer hours for less money. Create a brand and you can basically name your price. I guess it does depend on how big you want to get or how much you want to grow. Some are content doing a few jobs a week with no help and don’t want to mess with employees.

For anyone just starting out or thinking about starting out make sure you research, research some more, and then some more especially on everything Brodie mentioned above: marketing, sales, customer service, and customer retention. There’s a lot of info in past threads on here…

You got it. My goal is to sell my business by 37. To each their own. Some people want to do this forever. I don’t. I enjoy the heck out of it, but I don’t want to do this forever.

Crazy to see The Little Red Book! I was going through old boxes and I found where it had been hiding along with a few others I took with me on a trip many months ago.I literally just hand it my hand before reading your post. I thought I had lost it for good, maybe you brought it back to me. You know crazy universe stuff and all hahaha.

@squidskc That’s awesome. You’ve gained so much knowledge and experience from being a business owner which puts you miles ahead of most of the population. You’ll be able to use everything you learned and jump into bigger and better things. Everyone should have a long-term plan on where they want to be 10 years down the road and set goals to get there. Kudos to you for having that plan.

@dperez Crazy how life works at times. Now, if pressure washer guys can somehow subconsciously communicate, you need to start filling my head with all of that knowledge you have!
