25% SH? Should I give it a try?

My local SH supply store does provide 25% SH. Should I give it a try?

Good God. Seriously?

I’ve had some pretty decent SH burns from fresh 12.5%. I’d hate to see what 25% would do. How is it cost wise?

Are you sure it’s not 75% some chemical and 25% SH and it’s just confusing you?

I’ve never seen 25% anywhere! Even my chemical supplier can only provide 15% when it’s super fresh.

Will ask next time

not 100%. I was picking up my regular 12% and I was a tote with 25%sh label. Will double check

This company claims 20-30%. I can’t even imagine the stank off that

I wouldn’t even remotely consider it.

Same.

If its a good price just make sure you mix it well. From what I’ve gathered less is more, just build up. Don’t want to overdo it.

You’d have to wear a respirator when pouring it.

This has been discussed a few times. I had a supplier offer it to me. The consensus from the old threads were that the higher the percentage the faster the degradation. Not worth it unless you plan on using it quick. It has a happy point to where it becomes stable and 25% is way above it. If I recall correctly @CaCO3Girl offered some valuable insight.

SH is happy at 6%. Pretty much starts degrading after the reaction until it gets to 6%, then it’s happy for a little while. That’s why bleach on the grocery shelf is between 5.5-6.5%. Longest shelf life at that level.

You could teach us to make fresh SH right? :joy:

I asked my pool supplies guy why SH is 12% not higher. He says water can only hold up to around 12% SH before complete saturation occurs.

@SchertzServicesLLC …hold on, I’m currently teaching my 9 year old how to run with scissors.

@OPM

They aren’t chemists…you have to cut them a break on their chemical knowledge…just smile and nod. That’s what I do when someone says something really wrong in chemical land. Best not to make enemies:-)

Pulling 7-1 on a 4 gpm you could downstream roofs
