Can I keep a trailer outside (with ALL equipment on it) exposed to weather & be okay?
I am trying to plan my first actual trailer build. My first year was very successful, but I ran a 4gpm from homeowner’s water and worked from back of my truck. Moved the washer and all equipment in and out of my home. I don’t have any indoor storage for my truck or a trailer. Will exposure to the weather be a bad thing? Thanks in advance
I can’t speak on that part of the country, but now that you’ve mentioned Ohio, you may get more accurate information for that area. Here, in South Carolina, my washer has been in the bed of my truck for about three years year-round. I do keep a heat tape, like you’d use on outdoor pipes, on mine that I plug in at night if I know it’ll be close to freezing temps.
You’ll be fine. Make sure tires are inflated, pull trailer tires onto 2x10 or 2x12 so it doesn’t sink in the ground if parking in grass/field. winterize rig before winter, cover with tarps, put some anti mouse stuff under tarps, undo in spring, unwinterize it, start washing.
Mine sits outside all year for 3 years and going. I repaint deckboards in spring, once it is warm enough. They get trashed from the chems. Build/rent/buy a garage if your really concerned.
Curious why are you putting a GPS tag on it? Is it for insurance reasons or for the police?
I really hope you aren’t planning on going and looking for it. Let’s just say it might not be conducive to a long lifespan going into certain areas looking for stolen things. Some crews have lookouts blocks away, they pay kids who hit them up when your blocks out. They know who doesn’t live in that area.
My name’s not Charles Bronson .
Takes the leg work out of police needing to hunt it down.
When I was younger I’m kind of glad we didn’t have these. Have had several motorcycles stolen and probably (definitely) would have done something stupid.
Correct me if I’m wrong because I don’t use Apple products but, from what I understand, don’t Air Tags alert other nearby Apple users of the presence of the Air Tag? So, if the thief is also rocking an Iphone he would get a notification that there’s an Air Tag nearby. With a very large portion of the population using Iphones, I would say the likelihood of the thief having one would be pretty high.
Yes, I can track my kids’ jacket whether it’s in a car, in a school building, etc. Went to a drive thru Christmas Light display/festival last week and the air tag fell off while my kid was rolling down a large grass hill. Two days later we noticed the tag was missing and we were easily able to see exactly where it was in the lawn at the park 45 minutes away. When we went to pick it up, a yard maintenance guy had found it and moved it over the main office, which we could see that it had moved. Went in to front desk and we were able to hit a button on our app to make the tag play an audible tone. We could hear it behind the front desk clearly
