Went and washed 2 houses for a man, today. He added the driveway washes, so I did that, to. When I got ready to go, he said let me get your check…he went inside and returns, hands me the check. We were just talking and I glanced at the check and noticed that it was for $150 more than I quoted him. I pointed out that we had agreed to the lesser amount…he told me that he was tickled with the way everything looked and that it was worth the extra.

I was a bit embarrassed to take it…but he insisted. I thanked him profusely…as I think he overpaid me.

That…or I am working too cheap…but I price based on the hourly fee that I want to get…and I don’t work for yardman prices.

This was a cold call that I just did on a whim the other day.

I think that I may need more “whims”.

Why were you not wanting to take the tip? Am I morally corrupt that I would take it without a second thought other than thank you.

I got a $100 tip last week. I did a guys house big house $500 job, he paid me told me he owned a Umphys Chicken store he wanted it washed…
Did it 400 job he kicked in another 100 said he loved how it looked…
