12v pump leaking

Can this be fixed by replacing a part? Or is it time for a new one. I’m looking around online and it seems some brands you can replace the head. I got this pump from PT, and it only has PT stickers on it. No idea of the real manufacturer.

I want to try out the North Star pump from northern tool but the 5.5gpm is out of stock and will ship in 30 days. It seems to have a replaceable head.

Just found my answer.

Probably cant fix it because pressure would most likely blow out what you put over the crack on the outside. If you took it off and roughed up the plastic and then put epoxy from the inside I

t might hold because the pressure would push the epoxy against the head. Still not a good repair but maybe an experiment and a back up pump if your replacement pump failed.

Get a new head or pump.

But even if it worked, would you stake a days business or more to get a new pump if the repair worked and suddenly failed during a job?

I’m about to purchase the head and a spare pump. Does anyone have experience connecting two pumps together? I seen someones setup on facebook. If I recall correctly he said he was able to shoot further and if something happen to one pump he could still operate off of the other one.

Id try liquid steel, rough the area and clean with 90% alcohol, mix with fingers really well and apply. Give plenty of cure time. See if you can get some good kind from a body or specialty shop. I had some old gray epoxy from the 90’s and it was the best. Not sure if everyhing nowadays is reformulated due to outlawing chems.

I’m almost positive it’s a Delavan if it came from Pressure tek.

I have several of the NT 5.5. Great little pumps but shoot just a tad less distance than the Delavan - maybe 2-3 ft.

Just replacing the head should do the trick? It’s been running extremely good lately since I removed the zip tie that was in the diaphragm.

You should always have a backup 12v though and the NT for the money are perfect for that.

Roger that. The pump from PT is only 134. vs 129 at northern tool and its out of stock. I’m just going to get another one from PT. 5800 Series - 5 GPM - 12 Volt Pump - Pressure Tek

Should I run an accumulator with this pump? I’ve been abusing this pump with any nozzle that gives me the right spray volume. I can here the pump cycle on and off when I’m doing light coats with smaller nozzles.

If you do much with light coats it’ll help. If you’re shooting mainly from the gutter line not a big help. I use one on one of mine and don’t on the other.

I walk the roof every chance I get. I prefer to walk, but sometimes I’m just not comfortable walking. My fear of heights has subsided greatly since beginning roof cleaning but it still lingers.

Id rather climb a tree till the limbs started cracking than go on stage and hold a speech for 5 people. Heights have never bothered me, but public speaking gives me stage fright

That bothers me too. But I’m getting better. My BNI group has 63 people. So every week I have to talk about my business in front of 63-80 people(including guest). It’s crazy bc I have talked in front of 100s of people doing consulting work on oil spills, but it’s different with peers vs people you are talking overseeing. All I can say is, it does get easier but like anything else, you need to use the muscle for it to develop.
