Chainsaw Porn

Thought that I would post this for a change of pace. I added this to the tool shed, today. This was compliments of the need created by Hurricane Irma. As Irma exited Florida and entered Georgia during this past Sunday/Monday, she promptly put down 17 trees in my yard. This small time logging operation created the need for more saw power than I had…thus, I had to go in search of a saw…not easy to find in the aftermath of a sizable storm…finally found the one that I was looking for…Stihl 391. Nice saw…but there is no remote control for operation…rats.

Man… everyone I know that has had a Stihl chainsaw raves about it. Is it true that they never die?

Stihl rocks.

My dad has a McCulloch that looks like it has survived the Great Depression and both World Wars. It’s gotta be 40 years old. He fights with that thing to get it going whenever he needs it but it still runs.

Your dad needs you to buy him a stihl so he doesn’t have to fight anymore. Let him enjoy old age without wrestling chainsaws. And just so you know, 40 isn’t that old. I’ve got pocket knives that old that i remember buying lol

I love all my Stihl stuff. Cranks on 2nd pull every time. Pump little bulb couple of times, pull once on full choke, pull again on 1/2 choke and let’er rip.

What do you think Innocent? If Rowdy, being the PW king of KC was a good son, he’d buy his dad a new Stihl for Christmas this year.

I bought him Milwaukee stuff last year to replace some of his DeWalt stuff… might as well buy us both Stihl chainsaws for Christmas. Those gears were already turning thanks to this thread.

I still want that old McCulloch in 30 years when the Ol’ Man passes. I wanna rebuild it and hang it on a wall. Lol

Well, I got out and knocked the new of the Stihl…kind of hurt my feelings to mess up that pretty new saw. I will say this, it did not disappoint…a great performing saw. Just wish I had someone to run it for me…I’ll bet it would perform even better in someone else’s hands…with me supervising. LOL

I like Stihl products a lot…however, I have one Stihl trimmer that I finally gave up on…got tired of taking it back to the dealer…it was NEVER reliable. Matter of fact, it is still in the garage, but has not been used in over a decade. It had several different recurring problems…just a problem child that was never any good.

Sometimes you have to take a hammer to one in front of the other stihls so they know their place in life.

Anything from Stihl is top notch.

Congrats on your new acquisition, make sure you get a Dremel and the chainsaw sharpening attachment also to keep that puppy sharp :+1:

I know this is pure laziness but I bought about a dozen chains with the last saw so I don’t have to sharpen any more. I find it tedious

Lol no offense but that’s the typical American way, my brother in law bought a brand new dryer instead of ordering the little door clip you could unscrew

I try to find the balance of when throwing out the old piece of junk that’s not worth the hassle and making a simple repair on a perfectly good item

I may very well be typical but i have numerous vehicles with over a quarter million miles on them. I like hanging on to most things but I do have quirks. Sharpening chains is like fingernails on a chalkboard for me.

Stihl is the way to go for sure. The best blower on the market for the buck is the BG50 Stihl weighs about 8 pounds and pushes puddles of water for me.

Husqvarna saws are badass aswell. Those bad boys eat lumber for breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Yeah, I have had Husqvarna saws, as well.

Thanks!

I have the Dremel attachment, but I usually just use a hand file…cut my teeth on chainsaws so filing the chain is kind of like putting gas and bar oil in them…second nature. And, with the hand file, I can just sit down and sharpen the chain right on the spot.

This is some funny stuff

I’ve purchased two stihl saw’s and both started cold and ran like crap. I tuned them and brought them to the dealer where I purchased them to have them tune the saw’s as well, … both bogged down in cut’s and were a pain to start… Now I have a 16" echo and a 20" echo and love them.
