Well I finally bit the bullet and ordered a heavy duty ball valve and a hose swivel just now. I also went this morning and bought a 6" piece of pipe and made a short lance for my second gun which was real nice. We cleaned a home and also a massive deck today and used the 6" nipple and it seemed so much easier. Also had to pick up some more elemonator and a new whip line. Pressure Tek always does us good!In a couple weeks I plan to order the unloader block and move it off the pump. I never stop learning from you guys. Thanks!
Did you get stainless or aluminum pipe, or something else? If you don't mind, please tell what material and where you got it.(I'd like to set up the 6" too, but can't find a 1/4" stainless 6" nipple anywhere)
Never mind.....just found them on Amazon.
In case you haven't used them before, you'll love the swivel and ball valve!
Wise decision grass hopper! Money well spent!
Galvanized? It holds up well?
Up to now I've always just used the softwash tips right on the trigger gun. What advantage does the 6" nipple provide?
I use a 1foot lance before the softwash tips. It helps with "recoil" for meIts like shooting a snub nose revolver or a full size pistol, easier to control. Also if you added 6-12 inch pipe after a xjet it smooths the water flow and you get less mist.
Minimum length to straighten a stream of water is six inches. That six inches will gain you an extra 10 feet in distance. Same as the stream straightener on a turret on a fire truck.
Of course!......Just bought one, installing today.
Can you post a picture of how you used that 6inch piece you showed a link for ? I'm just trying to figure out if it goes in the jrod or what?
It's just a 6 inch wand. The nozzles pop in the end that isn't popped in the gun.
Mr Fixit show us a picture of your set up if you will..
It's the same as an aluminum lance, only shorter. Thread a QC on one of the threaded ends and thread the other end into your trigger gun. Or thread a male plug onto the end of the 6" piece and fit into a QC on your trigger gun so you can change lances. It's handy.
Here you go:
If you have an Orscheln's near you, they might have them. I was in there today, and they had the 1/4" x 6" in stock, in brass and galvanized. Bought one to set a gun up with.
Cool. Thanks for the pic. I want to set up a short gun for single story houses. My only concern is the chem/rinse mistinging from my j rod. I used the basic tips that came with the 4way j rod from pressure tek and I find it mists on 2 story houses. Any way to fix it? Currently have my setup at 3k psi (4gpm)
You may not have the correct tips. Remember to change the 00 tip every couple of weeks. They wear out and give a distorted pattern.
You want a 0040 to soap and rinse with
Where did you find the pipe? What material did you end up using? Could you post a link? I'm building my first soft wash gun. Thanks in advance!
IB posted a link earlier to one, but it is no longer available for shipping.
TSC and Orschelns carry them, usually in stock. 1/4" x 6" nipple... galvanized or maybe brass. Dont know which is better, but IB linked to galvanized, so it's probably that.
Here's a stainless one from Grainger... i guess thats probably the best choice:
