Pressure washer package deal or just pressure washer

Jo need to answer my question why are belts better :grinning:

Your belt driven machines have the ability to pull water from a a buffer tank, and you direct drive machines lack this ability. However you may not need this ability if your machine is operating at low gpm’s. Larger machines (4gpm+) that need more water for the pump to prevent cavitation require more than what a typical residential/commercial water supply has to offer. In the event you need to complete a wash job where there isn’t a water supply you would need to have your own water. Such as a buffer tank. Direct drives would be able to assist you better in this situation since you would have to pull water from a buffer tank. This is all information that Ive learned and read from this forum, just regurgitating a little.

Thank you didn’t know for sure knew belts were better.
I see some with 4 belts some with 3 guess the higher hp more belts?

That is a question better suited for the other forum members.

I wasn’t meaning to come across as yelling. I edited the post. Yes I have had regular scheduled maintenance work done on AR and General Pumps. By “issues” I meant problems that are caused by design flaws or weak materials which cause breakdowns or premature wearing out. I haven’t had a single pump for 14 years only that I have been using AR and General pumps and unloaders for 14 years. Sorry for the confusion.

Belt (as well as gear) driven pumps last longer because of running at a lower speed and having some separation from the heat and vibration of the motor.

And using a buffer tank allows you to run your bypass line back to the tank, meaning that you will always have cool water recirculating through the pump while in bypass. This also results in longer lasting pumps.

For me I like the fact with a belt the pump is circulating when engine is running and the trigger doesn’t have to be squeezed. Engine stays cooler less chance of seals going bad.

That’s not how it works. With a direct drive or gear drive the pump is running also. It’s an air cooled engine. It will only run cooler at full throttle, regardless of what is attached to it.

Think he meant to say pump

I went and typed in the model number provided and just the pressure washer for $1599 popped up

How well has that worked for you? I am also looking the exact same setup

I don’t have any complaints, except I need more clients
