I am assuming if you are making lots of money then. I could pass off a lot of the duties to my girlfriend. I’ll get my website finished and then start working on ranking it. I just need a business launch date. I am only missing a few things.
Thumbtack is a great resource if you know how to use it. If your reviews are good and you have a strong profile and a good website to send people to, itcan be a great tool. Your market is very important as well. I’m in the Baltimore/DC market, so I have lots of money around me. Thumbtack may suck in some markets. I’ll say this, recalling from my recent tax returns, I spent about $4k on thumbtack last year and probably got $40k in work…not Including any upsells or referrals from the thumbtack client. You do have to factor in what you gain from these clients besides the initial job. I had a single house wash from thumbtack turn into a $12k roof replacement ( we do exterior remodeling as well). Same thing with Angies List and Home Advisor. If you use them properly, they can make you money.

You can choose what jobs and fields you want leads on. For example, I use to be an electrician so I also have electrical requests come in. It’s not our primary business but we still get those leads. Since they’re not our primary business, those leads will come in with maybe a 4 credit cost verses the 8 credits we pay for our power washing requests. I did consider changing it so the power washing was a secondary lead but I’m sure they’d catch on to the fact we were bidding every PW job and chsrge us accordingly so, I didn’t bother.
Our website isn’t linked to thumbtack. We include our website address in our response to the customer and they can click on it if they choose to.

From a SEO standpoint, not all back links are created equal. This company does have high authority and that is great, however you must make sure that 1 robots are actually indexing that page, and 2 that you link is actually a dofollow link. I doubt they are do follow, but how would I know without looking.
You can check and see what is being indexed and what is not by going to a website and typing in domainname.com/robots.txt
This is the most common place for a robots file to be located.
Reading the robots file is pretty simple.
User Agent specifies the search engine. a ‘*’ means all
Pretty much just check and see which paths are not indexed with the dissalow: option.

Great info, its a few hundred to join, and the guy said he does link us up to his sight, so I see no point as far as back link juice, but I may be missing something, I will have to check with my seo guy for a more detailed investigation
Do you guys get a lot of repeat business cleaning homes? I clean kitchen exhaust and all my business is reoccurring, I get a client and keep them for life. Only had a few who left for a lower price, had a few that I dropped because I couldn’t make money on the job or they wouldn’t pay me
Use Google AdWords! And hire a company that is Google Certified to manage it for you. I’ve been using AdWords for a couple of years and just changed to a company that is an expert in AdWords and my call volume has way more than doubled! It will take them a couple of weeks to “dial it in” but you will be amazed.
I do those things professionally as my career currently. That and light software development/websites. So no need to hire a professional. 
That’s great! Just a tip. The best key words for me are “pressure washing”

Get with nitty34 I bought 10 signs and door hangers. They are double sided just go to rich neighborhoods put out going to the mall to town… I swear i got another call today from a sign… That is my 8th call in less than 2 weeks out…
Big houses. I get that job and a door hanger is going on every mailbox flag on the street.
I put out 6 signs, I go by and check them.Jealous mean people will remove them tear them up…
