Hotter it is the more it will happen. Gas tank pressurizes and pushes fuel past seat valve.
Hey Page thatâs why we had to buy electric fans. These " battle ready" firefighters thought you should leave the gas on to save a step when ventilation is needed how dare we have one more stepâŚanyway I always was told the Hondas were worse than others for that. Probably wrong but I usually turn off the gas and let it burn off whatâs there instead of the switch.
Howdâya know I donât ride a bike with fuel injection?
(I donât⌠but just saying⌠)
In Alabama EVERY day is hot. Glad I literally read every post on here.
Same here except, I turn off the fuel and let it run for about a minute then shut it off, so itâs not completely empty. Not sure if either one make much difference.
Makes sense. The only time Iâve run into it was the hottest day Iâve worked. Flipped the fuel shut off before I hooked up the trailer on another hot day and not problems.
Just adding some notes to this thread in case anyone searches this again. But after my motor hydro locked I had to turn the motor over to let all the gas drain from the spark-plug hole. Once this happens oil from your crankcase breather tube will seep into your air box causing the machine to run very rough. You will think its a lack of fuel or a dirty carb but safe yourself hours of time and remove the air filter as its probably so dirty with oil that it cant breathe.
Once I removed the filter it ran perfect.
On the plus side I now have two spare carbs, air filters, and spark plugs on hand.
I have a motorcycle but its fuel injected hahah
If i donât have a job next few days I CUT mine offâŚ
and only burn non ethanol fuel.
They have electric start on some bikes now
Wow! that must be sweet.
I canât imagine kicking some of these bigger bikes. My last bike was a Madura 1200 i tinkered with. Got to love automatic valve lash adjustment instead of bucket shims i never got into the Harley craze.
