Fall prevention?

We use anchors and nail to the peak. Before we leave I use a small amount of roof caulk to fill the pee size holes from the nails. No big deal. You won’t hurt the roof and you will never see any difference from the ground. $99 at lowes for the whole kit.

They are OSHA approved. Anchor size has nothing to do with level of protection. My work line for highrise is only 11mm thick (7/16") and will outperform your 5/8" roofer’s safety rope and last longer in the sun and against chemicals to boot.

If you install these, you could fix it with structural (Simpson Strong-Tie) screws. Like nails, they have the shear strength to resist lateral forces across the shaft. Then you would just gently lift up the shingle, use a low profile screw gun or even better, a right angle driver, and screw the anchor to the rafter. Permanent anchor and these low-profile ones are about 30% cheaper than the typical ridge anchor. But, the ridge anchor does provide 2 attachment points, one on either side of the ridge.

Hello everyone, new here but thought i would chime in.

Here in vancouver, canada some peaks are just insane. We also got all types of roofs (tile, asphalt, metal, plastic, etc). Despite all different roofs, they almost all have something in common, they all have Roof Vents. Remove the roof vents and theres always a solid beam running across. Hook yourself there and you dont have to nail into the roof. This is specially good for tile roofs (you dont have to remove tiles to get to the wood to tie yourself into)

Watch your hands when trying to wrap your rope in there as there usually some type of sharp metal/piece of wood etc just waiting to shred your hands up.

And if youre roof washing dont forget you do have a hole there so spray carefully. Just my 2 cents.

Im not sure how to link a video for you guys so you can get a better idea of what im talking about.
