Best ways to market? Proven results

I haven’t advertised in anyway in 15 years with the exception of my website that I got by trading a pressure washer for it. If you do good work your name will spread. Marketing and advertising is a used car salesman gimmick and the public knows it. My wife throws direct mailers directly into the trash. If I need something done that I can’t do I ask a few friends who they recommend. The more you advertise the lower the quality of your work. Think about how much MacDonalds spends on advertising versus your local steak house that is always packed. Which has better food and which doesn’t have to rely on advertising.

Quality of work has NOTHING to do with advertising . Quality of work has everything to do with the “man” doing the work and his pride and ethics. If I sent out a direct mail campaign each and every job I do from that campaign is the same exact quality job. I never get any call backs because something is F’d up. Every job is done exactly the same . Anyone else want to chime in here. Since when has advertising affected quality of work ?

Keep doing what your doing if it works for you. We just have different definitions of quality or something. My quality of work keeps me from having to advertise and running gimmicks in the winter to wash houses for one third the going rate. I’m only in Georgia about 4 weeks out of the year so I shouldn’t effect whatever you have going on there. Quality of work has everything to do with advertising.

This may help a little

Thanks

Looks like every spectrum was covered in this thread. I’m just starting out. What I do is dress nice and go knocking on doors. I hate it, but I’m pretty decent when it comes to talking to strangers. I’ve gotten 2 jobs that way. I’m really debating on doing mailers but right now it’s more economical for me to order magnets (I think people actually keep magnets vs business cards) and knocking on doors. If I can just get into a couple neighborhoods and be seen I’ll be golden. I do like the idea of a yard sign after I’ve cleaned a house. So what was the general consensus? Door hangers are better than mailers? I’m trying to get on that crazy money level. Y’all are talking about $100k or more a year :flushed:
